Patient Information
-
Psychological services are available through face-to-face or telehealth sessions, with a standard appointment duration of 50 minutes. A standard clinical psychology appointment costs $250; Medicare will refund you $141.85 per session if you are eligible.
Please note that a 1.1% surcharge will apply to credit and debit card transactions, and a 0.2% surcharge will apply to EFTPOS debit card options. If you prefer, you may pay online via electronic transfer before your appointment, which will attract no fees.
-
To be eligible for the Medicare rebate of $141.85, you will require a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) prepared by a GP or psychiatrist. This plan allows for ten psychology sessions per calendar year and should be addressed to Sandra English or Sandra English Clinical Psychology.
Keeping track of allocated sessions under the MHCP is essential to ensure eligibility for the Medicare rebate. Those without an MHCP can inquire about potential rebates with their private health fund.
-
To avoid cancellation fees, cancelling or rescheduling an appointment is preferred before 10am the day preceding your scheduled session. Failure to cancel within this timeframe will result in a cancellation fee of $250 being charged.
It's important to note that missed appointments are not eligible for the Medicare rebate, so adhering to the cancellation policy is crucial to avoid incurring additional costs.

All sessions with a psychologist are strictly confidential, ensuring that information will not be disclosed without your consent. However, there are a few exceptions to this principle. The psychologist may breach confidentiality if they believe you pose a risk of harm to yourself or others. Additionally, if your records are subpoenaed by a court, they may be compelled to disclose information. Furthermore, if the psychologist suspects that a person aged 18 or younger is experiencing or has experienced abuse and neglect, they are required to report this to the relevant authorities. Lastly, psychologists are obligated to report any cases involving unregistered firearms.
